Client Evaluations
Screen Tight Roller-Knife Screening Tool
I previously applied low-cost screening tools, the kind with two 1/16" wide steel rollers, 1 to press the screen into the spline slot, and the other to seat the spline.
This tool is better.
Pros:
- Tool has a 1/8" wide concave nylon roller, which is twice the width of the old style tools. It fairly significantly stays on the spline as you are rolling over it.
- Has a great grip and your hand won't slip off or down.
Cons:
- Would have been much better if the roller was wider nonetheless.
- One finish of the tool has a compact hook knife to trim the screen or spline, which a utility knife, scissors, or snips will do just as nicely. As an alternative of a hook knife, the tool will need to have a convex (curved outward) roller to push the new screening into the frame's spline slot. Therefore, if employing aluminum screening, you will will need an additional tool to push the screen into the spline slot. Fiberglass screening is a lot more flexible, so it really is a lot easier to install than the stiffer aluminum screening.
- Tool comes with NO instructions (see "comment" beneath).
Summary:
This tool has a even more appropriately sized spline roller than the less expensive screening tools (that have a 1/16" wide concave roller). For that purpose alone, it is worth purchasing.
