Buyer Critiques

I've scraped the popcorn ceilings off all the ceiling in my property. I purchased this when I started, thinking it would help. I've given that switched more than to a 10" taping knife instead.
Sure you can attach a plastic bag to it whilst you are scraping, but it will not catch anything and the weight of the bag as it fills up will hinder powerful scraping of the ceiling, rising the liklihood of gouging. Bottom line: Scraping popcorn ceilings is messy home business - put down painter's plastic and go at it.
Far far better IMO is to just use a 10" or 12" taping knife (like a putty knife, except lots wider). I nonetheless use a 2" and four" taping knife for finding about light fixtures simply.
While the capability to attach a manage and prevent climbing up and down a ladder could possibly appear appealing at first, it reduces the control of the scraper and increases the liklihood of gouging the ceiling. Far better to use a bench of some sort to reach those typical eight or 9' ceilings. Also, the bag attachment make it impossible to scrape parallel to the edges of the space (to steer clear of acquiring below the joint tape).

I bought this tool a few days ago to get rid of the popcorn from the ceiling in my hallway with hopes of later undertaking about 1000sq.ft+. living region. Needless to say, based on the star rating, I was certainly disappointed. Here are the issues:
1. With no keeping a "suitable" angle you will either scratch the ceiling or get stuck (considering that the edge of the tool ought to be kept flat against the ceiling and this is impossible to see with the bag in the way).
two. Will have to use a short ladder to see what's going on and employing a handle suggests you shed control (it's considerably harder to scrape and it would consistently rotate on the manage no matter how tightly I secured it).
3. As soon as you go over about five-10sq ft of popcorn (and mine was pretty light) the bag weights at least a pound or so which tends to make it that considerably tougher to manage the scraper.
4. Most of the popcorn is caught but some is not, so you will need to still safeguard the floors/walls and will want to vacuum every thing up.
5. Due to the way the "frame" holds the bag in place it is impossible to reach corners and I've truly left black marks on my freshly plastered walls due to the fact of the black plastic that holds the bag in place.
Bottom line: I bought this factor expecting it to speed up the job but instead I ended up spending a great deal more time futzing around with this tool. I had to finish the job with a putty knife (considerably quicker, with a great deal more control and it left a substantially cleaner ceiling). It was a bit extra messy but there was a lot of mess anyway and I got tired of standing on the ladder for an hour looking at the ceiling.
